Hi,
I know it was too late, but - HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019, minna !!!
This was basicly a record of my history as JDORAMA and JPOP fan. It may not same with most of you....but this is how I end up to be me today...
I was first introduce to Japan culture since primary school - mostly through history. Then, there were a lot Japanese anime, Japanese drama -mainly taiga drama that was dubbed to Malaysia Language running from our local TV, RTM ( It was like NHK in Japan). Most popular during that time was taiga drama, OSHIN I still remember watching other jdorama that were dubbed as below :-
Moero Attack
- it's about woman volleyball team with their superb technique in volleyball

Kamen rider (Satria Baja Hitam).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUmdJA1Q3sY
The story was well accepted by society - as it was dubbed.
After Asian Financial Crisis ( 1997-1998), local station broadcaster start airing JDORAMA in Japanese Language !!!
The 1st JDORAMA that I watch during this time was GTO

Since then I'm in love with jdorma until now. The hype for jdorama in Malaysia was big. At first only one local channel provided time slot for Japanese drama. After Jdorama become popular, most of tv channel got a slot for Jdorama. Most fan in Malaysia during that time love 3 big Japanese actor, THE BIG -3T - Takashi Sorimachi, Takuya Kimura and Takenouchi Yutaka. I also like Naohito Fujiki 's acting. I'm start to enjoyed the drama soundtrack and try to memorised it - although i can't understand the meaning at all.
I know few Japanese artist through OST drama such as ;
1. My little lover
2. Judy and Mary
3. Change and Aska
.....and many more.....
All time favorite old JDROMA for me was:-
1. GTO
2. Beach Boy
3. With Love
4. Long Vacation
5. The Power of Office Girl
6. Tokyo Cinderella Love Story
7. Love revolution
8. Perfect Love
9. Hero
10. Itoshi Kimi e
............and the list continue......
I remember I also fan of Tackey in ' News no Onna' - his first drama role...and...
Watching Matsujun as Hajime Kindaichi.
.... and I just know recent year that Oguri Shun was among the actor of GTO during that time.
Around 2000, one radio channel airing JPOP , JRock, and anime song - (THR radio- Subarashi Bangumi, DJ: Kak Nani). I remember how desperate for me to record the song in the cassete tape. Most favorite JPOP song in Malaysia during that time is Kiroro - Mirai e and also Utada Hikaru - First Love. You can hear the song was played in the supermarket, and shops . Thank to the programmed, I was able to brush up my knowledge in JPOP. The first JPOP I know was SMAP, Naotaro Moriyama, Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki, Fukuyama Masaharu, XJapan, Namie Amuro, Imai Miki and many more. I also remember listen to Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi (..... and have no clue it was sing by arashi, and even the title of the song !!!)
After Winter Sonata was airing in my country in 2000, KDRAMA was slowly take over the time slot that should be Japanese Drama time slot. Slowly, the Japanese Drama slot was reduced in local television broadcast. The last jdorama that I saw in television was 'One little of tears' at channel 8TV. But, I should admit that I was quite busy during that time. Currently, few jdorama can be watch in local tv station. One new local television channel(TV alHijrah), airing the taiga drama back eg. Gochiosousan , Oshin and so on.
Althought Jdorama slot in tv was limited, Jdorama fan still can have an excess to Jdorama by buying CD drama box at video shops. This video shops mainly located in main town or city.I was in a boarding school during my year as secondary student. On Saturday night when we don't have activity or programmed, me and my friends will have binge drama watch at hostel using laptop until morning. this can be Jdorama or Kdrama. We also have CD exchange and reburn the CD ( student = poor ). We cannot afford to buy every each CD. This continue until my undergraduate time. This was a best way for me to release the stress during study. The first drama CD box that I buy was KimuTaku drama - Good Luck in 2004 as a present for myself for passing final semester exam during undergraduate. During this time I learned to download the mp3 and jdorama.
Jdorama and JPOP allow me to gain a lot of knowledge of life - outside of the classroom, and my comfortable zone. During the journey as a fan i meet a lot of friend s with the same interest in youtube, social media, d-addict, and real life. I may just a silent reader most of time in social media, but i really appreciate it. Some of my best friend already quit from watching Jdorama and JPOP. But meeting with you and them was precious - althought it may limited to social media only.
My family? Last time they all feel weird about me love Jdorama and JPOP soo much. But now my parent and my siblings love Jdorama and JPOP also....thank to Arashi...... maybe when i have a time i will wrote about that in the future.
so until next time.
Sayonara...
